Here’s all the important FEV Extra content that went up on the side-blog since it debuted, as part of an ongoing weekly update that will be posted here every sunday.
- A Conversation About Yaoi Fan-Works involving Weekly Shonen Jump & The Volatile Anti-Audience – A re-adapted version of an old tumblr ask, talking about male-on-male fan art and erotica based on Weekly Shonen Jump properties. I feel like I could have done a lot more on this, and probably will do in the future. Short version: there’s issues, but I like them regardless.
- The New Power Generation of Jump: How’s That Going? – The first part in what’s been a short series of posts looking at the recent successes of Shonen Jump. This one deals with the ‘power five’ that is the New Power Generation; Kuroko’s Basketball, Nisekoi, High Kyuu!!, The Disaster of PSI Kusuo Saiki, and Assassination Classroom.
- The Fresh Power Campaign of Jump: Did Lightning Strike Twice? – The second part, looking at the other recent grouping, the Fresh Power Campaign, starring Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, and World Trigger. Bit more of a mixed bag.
- More Recent Hits in Jump: Can the Campaignless Compete? – The final part, looking at three more recent popular titles, who’ve been doing well despite not being put in a little promotional grouping like the previous seven comics. I’m hot on at least two of these comics, and all three make me optimistic for the future of the anthology.
There was also an interesting anonymous ask that somehow became a lengthy post about the best things/creator/series with the most foreseeable longevity in Shonen Jump. Not quite real content, but may be of interest to several listeners.
