Friendship! Effort! Victory! Episode 18 – Nisekoi

My microphone may be broken, but we soldier on through part three of Valentine’s month!
The debut cover of Nisekoi in Weekly Shonen Jump, from the end of 2011

What is Friendship! Effort! Victory!? – It’s a podcast about the manga and inner workings of Weekly Shonen Jump, with an eye towards accessibility and soothing camp tones.

What is this episode about? – It’s about Naoshi Komi’s Nisekoi, the popular romantic comedy with completely non-typical harem tendencies. It’s a part of Weekly Shonen Jump’s New Power Generation too, a group of four titles Shueisha are promoting as the future of the anthology, which is a bit special, innit!

Where are the show notes? – They’re inside this locket, but who has the key?

-If you want to know more about Nisekoi, head over to the wikipedia page for it.
-If you want to read Nisekoi in english and are American or Canadian, head over to, where the first two volumes are currently available!
-You can also read the series in english THE SAME DAY JAPAN DOES by subscribing to Viz Media’s Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine. Again, only if you’re American or Canadian, you lucky ducks.
-Of course if you don’t mind Japanese and want some lovely physical copies instead of all this digital hoo-hah, then head over to Amazon Japan and get your stuff there. I don’t mention it in the show, but the store also sells it on kindle, of all things!
-There’s also a Nisekoi Vomic (A read-through of the manga, with proper voice actors) all up on the internet. Check that out.
-You can learn more about Weekly Shonen Jump over at the wiki page for it, which is almost slightly reliable.
Friendship! Effort! Victory!’s on iTunes, where subscriptions and reviews are always most welcome.
-You can find me on Twitter @Maxy_Barnard where I usually just swear and be wrong about stuff
-You can also find me on Tumblr over at The Despondent, where there’s a Schedule of upcoming episodes & an irregular supply of things relevant to mine and your interests (NOW INCL. A SMALL GALLERY OF NISEKOI COVERS)
-You can also e-mail me at maxy dot barnard at gmail dot com if you’d like.
-As always the music used in this episode is from Jump Ultimate Stars. The intro is [INTO PLANET] and the outro, appropriately is ‘Loser’

Sound quality issues are noted, and I’m trying to blag a replacement microphone as we speak.
